Promoting collaborative working within the construction industry
Beta versions of the CPIx BIM strategy templates are available on this site to download for use. These have been developed in consultation with the government BIM Task Group and are in accordance with PAS 1192-2.
Please send us feedback on what does and doesn't work on these so that we can update them.
Once they are established an online tool will become available for using these tools on line to gather project specific information.
CPI is developing two new on line tools, the Uniclass tool to generate layer files and a request tool for new classifications. An industry trial version is now available here. Please let us know your feedback so that we can make the final version live.
The CPIx Layer Generator tool can be used to create an AutoCAD script File, Bentley script File or a Text file with Layer names complying with the CPI Uniclass standard.
The opportunity exists to submit a request for a new Uniclass code. New requests will be considered by CPI and added to the latest version of Uniclass where appropriate.
CPIc is currently involved in two major areas of development.
Uniclass is a classification system for the construction industry which is the UK version of BS EN ISO 12006. It is recommended as the classification to be adopted in order to comply with BS 1192:2007. CPIc has commissioned a set of new tables - Uniclass 2 - to solve the issues that the current version or Uniclass poses in relation to congruence, mapping, etc., and is also working with the ICE to add to Civil Engineering classification to all the tables.
CPIc was involved with other industry organisations to develop a definition of the deliverables involved in the processes for BIM. A copy of the report can be downloaded here.
